About Tara Lawrence

Tara Lawrence has demonstrated her commitment to getting justice for victims since she graduated from law school. First graduating, with high honors (magna cum laude) from the University of Portland, Tara graduated from Willamette Law School and was admitted to practice before the Oregon Supreme Court in 1999.

She became one of the youngest-ever elected District Attorneys in Oregon, serving four years, before moving to Portland.

Tara's experience extends from family law, representing men and women in divorce proceedings, as well as modifications to child support and custody issues, to personal injury. 

Tara has become well known in Oregon and Washington for her advocacy on behalf of victims. Her firm represents men, women and children who have been victims of physical and sexual abuse, workplace or school violence. 

Tara has been recognized for her advocacy on behalf of victims and volunteers for the National Crime Victims Law Institute (NCVLI).

Lawrence Law Firm is a boutique firm that specializes in vigorous advocacy on behalf of injured victims. A boutique firm is a small law firm, with relatively small staff, that takes the time to focus on each client and each case and specializes in certain kinds of cases. It is like the difference of going to see a specialist in medical care, rather than a large clinic.

Tara Lawrence has strived to create a firm in which the entire staff is motivated by a deep sense of justice. Tara is a fighter, having stood before juries on many occasions, and is unafraid of taking on an institution, a "bigger" law firm, or even the government, if that is what is needed.

While many firms would allow practical considerations to dissuade them from taking on large scale organizations, our law practice believes that lawyers have an ethical duty to advocate on behalf those who have been victimized -whether their injury is the result of workplace sexual harassment, an abusive marriage, or corporate greed.

At Lawrence Law Firm, we take the strong stance that legal disputes involve real people, tragic stories, and the opportunity to deliver justice to those who have been victimized. Most importantly, at our firm we are selective with our case volume, so that we can immerse ourselves in each case. 

Everyone at our firm, from the attorneys to the paralegals, is committed to getting to deeply know our clients and to provide each case with undivided attention. It is not uncommon for our attorneys to provide our clients with their personal cell phone numbers, to take calls and texts late at night. 

At our firm we recognize that being a trial lawyer is not simply about providing legal representation but carries with it the additional duty of supporting our clients with their physical and emotional healing.
